Privacy and data
Scout handles sensitive calls, so it keeps as little as it can and puts you in charge of the rest.
Consent first
Every caller hears a recorded notice, in English and Spanish, before any analysis starts.
Minimum kept
Audio is analyzed as it streams and isn't saved as a recording.
You set the clock
Transcripts and incidents are deleted automatically after the time you choose.
Nothing shared without your OK
Your credit union and helpers see only what you choose to share.
What Scout keeps from a call
Caller's stated name and reason
- Kept?
- Yes, until your retention period ends
- Why
- Shown on your screen and in the call history
Live call audio
- Kept?
- No, analyzed in memory and not saved
- Why
- Checked for signs of AI-generated speech
Transcript of both sides
- Kept?
- Yes, until your retention period ends
- Why
- Used to spot scam tactics and so you can review the call
Warnings, voice-check result, your choices
- Kept?
- Yes, in the incident
- Why
- So you, and anyone you share with, know what happened
Short quoted excerpts
- Kept?
- Yes, in the incident
- Why
- Evidence for a warning, shared only if you choose
Voicemail
- Kept?
- Yes, if a caller leaves one
- Why
- Recorded by Scout's phone company (Twilio or SignalWire), like any voicemail
Family code word
- Kept?
- Only as a salted hash
- Why
- So Scout can recognize the word without storing it
Number-shield signal (after a warning)
- Kept?
- Only scrambled codes for the number and member, for 90 days
- Why
- So other members can be told how many people were warned about that number, as a count only
“Before you move money” checks
- Kept?
- Yes, a log of each check (if you turned it on)
- Why
- Sound CU sees counts and tactic names from the last 72 hours, never transcripts; you can see every check
How long things are kept
- You choose 1, 7, 30, 90, or 365 days. The default is 30.
- A nightly job deletes expired transcripts, evidence, calls, and incidents automatically.
- You can delete calls and incidents yourself at any time.
- A case you shared with Sound Credit Union stays open until it's resolved, so staff can finish helping you.
Who can see what
You
Everything about your own calls, in the app.
Your helpers
Only the incidents and details you choose, by alert call or private link. No login, no other calls.
Sound Credit Union employees
Only cases you authorize, and only at your credit union. Every view is logged. They still use their normal identity checks.

Washington's consent law
Washington requires everyone on a private call to consent before it's recorded or intercepted (RCW 9.73.030). That's why Scout always answers first and plays its notice to every caller before analysis begins.
